Talkin' Tarn & Tour of Britain part 2 Thursday 10th September 2015

Another beautiful day encouraged us to go out for a wander - somewhere. Consultation of the Tour of Britain stages confirmed that they would be passing through Brampton and passing by the end of the road to Talkin' Tarn today.... decision made then. Talkin' Tarn it is.
A look around the crafts and a cup of coffee at the café were necessary first, but then we set off for a wander around. There didn't seem to be many birds about, not even on the water, but then we realised there were about 40-45 ducks sitting on the edge of the water outside the café! Two people set off in a canoe as we wandered along the path - very still water would ensure a smooth ride today!

It was a lovely wander around the tarn, we even found a sunny spot with plenty of Devil's Bit Scabious for the butterflies.

There were a few birds around in the trees as we wandered along, and this family of Mute Swans on the edge of the water.

As we looked more closely we noticed there were plenty of damselflies around the water's edge too - along with a few other interesting things.

Having completed our turn around the tarn we wandered back to the car park and then down the road to await the bikes. As we reached the road the lights began flashing on the level crossing! A train was due. Lucky it was before the cycles came past!

A few more minutes passed as we waited patiently.. Then just as a motor bike came round the corner... the level crossing started bleeping again and the gates came down across the road!!
A second train passed by.

Hoping this was the last one before the race arrived everyone scanned the road nervously, and then the motor bikes and official cars began to come past.

Swiftly followed by the breakaway...

It was a few more minutes however before the peloton arrived.

As they were going slightly uphill at this point the whole group passed by relatively slowly, followed by a long stream of cars - also going quite slowly.

And then they were gone!
Normal traffic followed on behind them and within a few minutes the road was back to the quiet state is is usually in!
