April's Wildlife sightings from a garden in Annan

This is a list of what we have seen from our garden in Annan

We also hope to produce a list of wildlife seen around Eastriggs as reported by members at each monthly meeting.

Blackbird - 2 males and a female
Bluetit - 2 (we suspect these are nesting next door)
Buzzard - 4 (seen hovering overhead on the 18th)
Crow - 5
Chaffinch - 2 males and a female (not as many as last year)
Collared dove - 3
Dunnock - 1 (not seen as frequently as usual)
Gold finch - 3 (seen on the 13th but not since!)
Great Tit - 2 (our regulars who are nesting in a box)
Heron - 1 (flew overhead)
House Sparrows - 30+ (regulars in our hedge and feeders)
Jackdaws - 2
Song Thrush - 1 (nice to see it still visits occasionally)
Starlings - 10
Swallows - 2 ( one came back on 16th - second returned 21st)
Wood pigeons - 2 (eating the ivy berries)

We have also had sightings of bees with over a dozen enjoying our heather patch in the sunshine.
Peacock butterfly and Small Tortoiseshell have been spotted as have quite a few 7 spot ladybirds and one or two 2 spot ladybirds.

A cheeky mouse was seen pinching seeds from the bird tray.

Best shot of the mouse I could get
Moth trapping this month looked as if it was starting to pick up. 12 moths over the first 2 weeks of the month, although only 2 species, looked promising - but then the weather turned cold and windy and for the rest of the month we caught nothing!
