Day 6 - 30 Days Wild project

After a stormy, windy night we did not expect many moths in our trap from last night. We were not disappointed with just 3 moths!
1 Angle Shades and 2 Heart and Dart.

Later in the morning we headed to Castle Douglas for their Food Town Day but were worried that the winds would have moved the marquee. Our fears were realised because the sides were flapping and someone was constantly going round knocking pegs back into the ground.

The wind was so strong we had difficulty even walking down the street.

After meeting up with regulars from food producers markets we stocked up with supplies and took sandwiches to Carlingwark Loch to watch for wildlife. The winds had sent most birds to shelter and we only saw Swans, Black Headed Gulls and Mallards braving the elements.

As we left we noticed a couple of Sparrows, Swallows and Starlings.

Later tonight we are heading to Williamwood Farm nr Brydekirk, we are setting moth traps ready for their Open Farm Day on Sunday. We hope that the winds die down and allow the moths to get to our traps so we have something to show the crowds tomorrow afternoon.
