30 Days Going Wild - Day 3

June 3rd
Our wild days aren't always going to be about moths, but RSPB Mersehead have been moth trapping on a regular basis during the summer for the last couple of years. We can't always manage to get there but today it was our wild activity for the day.
Not a lot of moths in the trap, but enough to be interesting to the assembled visitors. Moths were sorted into groups of those that were the same, or similar, before books were consulted to try and identify the finds. Some were easy but some of the "brown" specimens were a little harder. Here are just a few of the ones caught in the trap last night.

White Ermine

Flame Shoulder

Cinnabar

Clouded Bordered Brindle

Small Square Spot
The next RSPB Mersehead Mocha & Moths session is on Fri 1st July 9.30-11am.
See their website for more details.
