30 Days Going Wild - Day 6

June 6th
Our wild activity today was to go on a butterfly walk in the beautiful sunshine. We headed off, in anticipation, to Birkshaw Forest. Before we even got there we had to stop because of a moth on the road! We had stopped to allow a car to pass and it landed on the car bonnet. Then it flew off to land on the road. A Brown Silver Line moth.

We finally got to the forest. It was so busy there..........not! We met no-one on our walk at all!

Unfortunately we didn't see many butterflies at all -  2 Orange Tips, one white unidentified butterfly and 3 Small Heath butterflies.

Not being many butterflies, we started to look for wild flowers instead. There were some, but a lot of them still weren't in flower.

There were a few flies and bees and even a Silver Ground Carpet moth.

An enjoyable walk even if we didn't see quite as many butterflies as we had hoped. We are happy with anything we see on a walk though so we certainly weren't disappointed.
