30 Days Going Wild - Day 8

June 8th
A quieter day today at home. Lovely to see so many bees buzzing around the plants in the garden. Think we have seen all 7 of the common Bumble Bees found in Scotland this year in our garden!
White-tailed, Buff-tailed, Red-tailed, Carder, Garden Bumble Bee, Early Bumble Bee and even a Tree Bumble Bee! Brilliant!
Many of the plants in the garden are in full flower at the moment and looking good and the smell from some of them is intoxicating.

Our other job today was to repair our bug hotel. We made it several years ago and brought it with us when we moved house. The wood on the back was falling off and needing replacing but we decided to cover the back with chicken wire like the front so that we can see it from both sides. It is full of sticks, fir cones, tree bark, stones and offcuts of wood. People ask us what bugs are in there but, as we tell them, we can't tell unless we take it to pieces!
