30 Days Going Wild - Day 17

June 17th

Decided to look round the garden and see how many things we have put in the garden to help the wildlife - apart from plants!

As well as bird boxes for nesting in, we have a variety of feeders for fat balls, seeds, peanuts etc. Some old boxes have been re-cycled and they are filled with moss or sheeps wool for them to use when making nests. The sheeps wool is always popular - so when out walking we keep our eyes open for wool on barbed wire etc for replenishing.

Water is available in a variety of places in the garden - as well as the pond and official bird bath we have several saucers and bowls around the garden. The latest addition is an old dustbin lid, which the sparrows have loved for having a bath! We have just introduced a saucer of water, with marbles in, for the bees too.

We have a variety of homes for insects etc. As well as a shop bought one (!)  we have our home-made versions. Log piles and wigwams have been our way of tidying up some of the "rubbish" around the garden, and bee nests and bug houses have been cheaply made from left over bits and pieces.
We have seen creatures in most of our "homes" at some time or other but the only one we have had no interest in (as far as we know!) is the bat box.

Hope the wildlife enjoy!
